Default Blower Motor Issue

I have a Disco 2 2003 with a blower motor issue. I have replaced the resistor and the blower motor. However, the motor will come on intermittently. When it does, the blower motor will cycle through all four speeds with out issue. What am I missing? Thanks for any input.

Could be your interior fuse box on the driver’s side, this is a common failure. About $35 for a replacement on eBay. But your first solution should be to check the wiring connections for the blower motor under the passenger side kick panel. I was a lazy pants and replaced the fuse box and blower motor (though I did at least do the Pontiac blower motor upgrade while I was at it) with no positive results. Then I happened to see before my very eyes some crappy rewiring that had been done by the prior owner or his indy shop. It was severely corroded at the multiplug, and you could see where new wires had been put together with a simple butt connector—also this multiplug has been known to overheat with high resistance, say from lots of leaves in your fan, and mine showed significant signs of dark brown overheating marks. Also would overheat as a result of the gauge wire being reduced due to snipping too many strands of the wire and increasing the resistance. So I cut the multiplug entirely, with the corroded wiring and all, and spliced the two ends on either side of the multiplug directly together. Worked right away. Wished I had done that before killing my fingers replacing the fuse box; I still have a healing finger blister from trying to squeeze those eight or so huge multiplugs lose from the back of the fuse box.

Just to be clear, if your fan cycles through all four speeds, it’s definitely not the resistor. If resistor was bad, you would only have off and full blast.
