Default Bosch vs. GEMS Question

Does the GEMS V8 engine setup use the same front cover and cam position sensor as the Bosch setup, difference being cam chainwheel ERR5086 for GEMS vs. ERR7375 for Bosch?

I believe they are the same except the crank position sensor. I'm doing a gems 4.6 at the moment just moving all the parts from bosch 4.6. I'll post if I get snag.

Thanks! The Crank Position Sensor is definitely different between GEMS and Bosch, both the sensor and the mount.

I know based on experience the Bosch system reads only the ERR7375 chainwheel. I guess my real question now is: Is the front cover with ERR6169 cam sensor and ERR5086 chainwheel the correct setup for all GEMS applications?

Found information online stating "use NSC500610 cam sensor for pre-1997 applications and use ERR6169 cam sensor from 1997 onward."

Seems to be correct but I would love confirmation from someone who knows for sure.

Interesting. Is this for all GEMS or only for some, i.e. different cover depth for pre-1997 engines only?

From what I have read to use a gems instead of a Bosch, you take your Bosch timing gears and cover and install it on the gems motor.

All GEMS engines use the same depth timing cover, and as far as I know there weren't any changes at all to it during production.

The difference in depth between bosch and gems is over 1.5". Look how the D2 AC compressor sits mostly on top of the engine instead of in front of it like a D1

That doesn't make any sense to me. The length of the crankshaft and the location of the harmonic balancer determines where the pulleys line up, not the depth of the timing cover, right?

Water pump bolts to the timing cover. They all use the same water pump, so if its moved closer to the block 1.5", everything else has to follow.

This is a website about installing a Bosch engine in a GEMS rig.
So whatever he did you would need to do the opposite I guess?
