Both sunroofs not working, 96 Discovery
Hi,
New to the Land Rover and to this site. So, thanks in advance. Looks like a great resource.
I just bought the truck and both of the sunroofs are not working, from either of the two switches. This sounds like it may be a relay or some sort of issue like that, anyone have experience with this?
Is this a common problem with a common fix?
Thanks!

Can you hear the motors working at all?
If not, check your fuses.
There really isn't a common fix as there is about 3 common failure points inside of a discovery sunroof, all due to lack of grease on the tracks and/or worn parts.
The most common failure point are the cables. They have molded plastic on the end of each of them which pushes/pulls the triangular runner up and down the track. The molded plastic tends to crack/break due to lack of grease or just basic wear. The cable assembly can be purchased from the dealer for around $180. You can also try to piece together parts from a couple of donor sunroofs from junk vehicles, however you may be buying the same problems you're having.
Once you disassemble the sunroof, it really isn't that hard to figure out how it works. I can actually have mine completely out and apart in under an hour, but then again, I've been into three of them now.
