Default Bought a large roof rack, how do i mount it now?

there is Black Betty with her new roof rack (to her anyway)

now how do i secure it? i am thinking of making 6-8 gutter fasteners and weld them on to the rack or weld eye holes and put a locking screw on them.

Still in the thinking process, thoughts?

Nice little rack you got yourself. I'm not sure of the best way to weld on mounts so I'll just post some pictures of mine to try and give you some ideas. What ever you decide I would suggest trying to make the mounts over the A-pillars for strength.

Here is what i have so far, six L brackets that are 10 inches long at its longest point and the "L" is 2 inches.
I will add square tubing to lift it 1/4 of an inch all around and then its welding time.

getting more help tomorrow so this might get done this weekend, i also might re do the L bars and do 12 inch length then not worry about the spacer.

i will drill a hole at the bottom and attach a "C" clamp pics of this tomorrow.

Good to see you are making progress! As for "thicker stock" on the brackets, that's a big YES if you plan on putting any real weight on the rack.

And for as little as it will cost, you might also want to add another set of brackets at the A Pillar.

Good luck!
