FYI the hood and roof are not aluminum. You only have to worry about the doors and fenders.

Tell that to Statefarm.....I pay them crooks more to insure my 99 disco II versus a brand new Jeep Liberty KK......???!?!??

Apparently they still think this truck is worth 36k. LOL

The 4 side doors are steel, as is the roof (as you mentioned). Every other panel, including the hood and rear door, are aluminum.

that is what I thought, I just went to verify with a magnet. The hood is what I'm most worried about. We've had a lot of potential hail producing weather around here lately.

Dumb meathead answer (what I'm good at): Keep a moving blanket and some painters tape in the truck. If you get caught in something like that, toss it over the hood and tape it down.

Yeah, it's redneck, but you won't be replacing your hood (unless its so bad that you'd be replacing your windshield and getting dents in the steel roof anyway). Sure, you might get it in the side panels, but the hood is what will get most likely damaged.

Darylj, that's not a bad idea. I put her in the garage so she's safe for tonight.

My 03 is in the garage... I'd probably have put the 99 in too.... but it doesn't move on it's own yet.

The rain did let up a bit, but still no solution. I think my next step will be to remove the ECU and BCM and make sure they aren't full of water or ashes or something.

One weird thing I noticed today is that the scanner says that the inertia switch is "triggered" but that seems strange, because all of the doors lock, and I can hear the fuel pump running, and the engine actually starts, and then dies. I think I might jump the switch and see if the scanner says something else. I checked my 03 and it says "set" for the inertia switch.
