i hate to jump in but these engines are slugs because that is how Land Rover wanted them.
If you look at the same corisonding years you will see the Rover equivalant engine out out 80 or better horsepower.
There ordered with lower comp. And smaller camshafts. But Land Rover had to Worry about warrenty them.

I agree and when I here back I'm hoping they respond with a group buy offer. I doubt it will be a software we could just install though. If anything similar to the defender you send in your ecu so they can take data from it and they send you back a new ecu along with your original. This way you can always throw the stock ecu back in.
I obviously know this is a different engine. I don't expect our n/a v8 to compete with the turbo engine found in a defender. All I was saying is that if they could provide an ecu with upgrade performance for our truck without having to worry about throwing a bunch of bolt ons at it, it would be nice. The 175hp gain they get is with just ecu though, no bolt ons required. If you look at stage 2 that's where you start changing the bits.
I may look into this. Even the 19hp gain and 27lbs of torque would be well worth the cost.

Besides, if theysay they can free up 25 hp with some software adjustments, I'll take that over doing a cam.

thesoundguru and everyone else looking at more horsepower...what about Cannibal V8 in Oklahoma?
Cannibal V8 Engines
the website seem to know their stuff. But I too would be interested in an off the shelf tune.
But that 175 gain estimate is not realistic unless we are talking about tuning a turbo engine and even then its a stretch. BMW 335 engines get 50-90hp on a tune (depending on vendor) and those are turbo gas motors. In fact a big tuner by the name of Vishnu was sued for pushing their tunes to far and causing 335 owners to have to shell out for new engines.
Also, Dusty1 has fairly extensive mods done to his. Search his threads for more insite

I think a lot of people are missing the point. We aren't looking for 175 hp jump off a tune. That's being completely unrealistic. If we can get better fuel economy and a slight HP bump (20's range), without shelling out $5k for a new motor, then I'm happy with that.
Hell, when I was in tech school, most of the guys had volkswagens and 75% of them had tunes. There was one guy who had the tuning software on his laptop that he bought with him.
I know the VW world is way different then ours, but there is a lot we can learn from those worlds.
