Default Brake Booster

I bought a replacement brake booster from a well known wrecker. Installed it fine. I have been bleeding the brakes, so far I am basically 2 full 32 oz bottles into bleeding. question is that if there is always a hissing in the passenger compartment when i press the brake, is that the boster leaking air? It defiantly sounds like air. The brakes work reasonably well, still softer than i would like. Ill keep bleeding. It seems like I am using way too much fluid and it must be going somewhere. into the booster? The brake pedal will pump up hard when the engine is off and once the engine is on, the pedal can mostly go to the floor.

I have never had that hissing when i press the pedal and wonder if i have a bad brake booster.

any other ideas? or things to test? i do not believe i am losing fluid out the vacuum line into the engine.

thanks in advance

Yep, sounds like a bad booster. You can test it and see if it will hold vacuum. Pump it down and see if it holds

Any ideas on where to find a replacement Brake booster? Looks like the only ones available here in US are either all used or in UK for 700-1200.00. Is no one rebuilding these anymore?

There must be a run on them. I got one from a local breaker from carparts.com. I forgot about that website. $100. There were several listed on there, i got the one closest to me. I found some rebuild kits, i might try on an old one see what it looks like inside.

Yea me 2...+200 bucks on the way, hope it is not leaking. On the rebuild kit, let me know it that works for you. Why TRW or Cardone is not making these is beyond me..
