Default Brake Change

Ok, I've looked and searched but I can't find anything about changing brake pads out. If I missed it just post the link, but I've never done this before and was wondering if anyone can walk me through changing out the brake pads on my 04 disco. It's definitely time and I'm going to do it within the next week. I know this is kind of a simple job for someone who's experienced with it, but I'm not. So if someone could give me a list of tools needed, and step by step that'd be awesome! I'll be going with the Akebono Ceramics....hurts my wallet but seems like a good choice. Thanks again

Joseph

I think urban panzer's site has a brakes tutorial:
http://www.discovery2.co.uk/

There is nothing special about doing the pads on these trucks so any youtube how to will do.

Make sure you measure the thickness of your rotors. I thought I was just going to do a simple brake pad change, and after measuring the rotors with a caliper realized that they were way too thin and also needed changing.

Ok so I'm finally getting to this brake change. Had some other things come up. I'm now replacing the rotors as well.
EBC Brakes GD994 GD Series Front Sport Rotor Kit -2 Piece
Got these off amazon.com for 185$. I basically drove on them till they started grinding. This will be the first time I've replaced rotors and brakes and I'm a betting man and since every other 1st time project I do with this truck seems to throw me some kind of curve ball, I have a quick question. I read over the link above and was curious if anyone else has this problem, i.e. how common it is.
"The brake disc is held in place with a countersunk screw. These screws EASILY get chewed up and therefore are a pain to remove, for this reason I had bought new ones in preparation for doing the Job."

Just curious if I need to go ahead and get these screws or wait to see if it's necessary...

What do you mean by a 2 piece rotor, D2's take a 1 piece vented rotor. As for the #4 phillips head screw, take it out with a hand held impact driver after you soak it with some PB Blaster.

Yea I don't mean anything by 2 piece. I think Amazon or EBC means a pair.....well hopefully or I'm gonna be pissed, or pulling slightly to one side while braking
