Brake Check
Hey y’all.
I finished up a front brake job today. New regular Powerstop rotors and Akebono ceramic pads.
On my test ride everything seems fine driving around the neighborhood. I took it out on the road for just a minute and tried a quick full stop from about 35mph. It slowed down but instead of coming to a hard stop at the end it seemed to skid or lock up for a moment before resuming braking. I’m not really sure how to best describe it.
Is this a break in thing, need to bleed the brakes, or maybe something else?

Did you use any type of brake clean on new rotors? They usually have a light film of oil on them, to keep them from prematurely rusting in storage. If you didn't clean this off, it will affect brake preformance initial...and you will get a rude smell.
But, yes...the brake pads will need to seat properly...before preformance will be top-notch.
