Default Brake Flush/bleed

1998 Disco 167k miles...Reclamation
Brake overhaul in process
I plan on replacing everything with a brake rebuilding kit from Atlantic British (standard rotors/Ferodo pads)
I have bled brakes before but thought you needed special equipment to completely flush the system (especially with ABS)
I see no reference in the RAVE CD what's the procedure??

Bleed them just like normal only keep doing it at each wheel until you get clean fluid out at each wheel.
Once you get clean brake fluid at each wheel you are done, complete flush.

I had been led to believe with the ABS system manual bleeding might cause issues.

That sounds straight forward. Just keep the fluid above the min level line and find a helper.

Thanks.

Nope, no problems.
Just use the buddy system, have at least 2 quarts of DOT 4 brake fluid on hand, keep it full and pump away.

Hey Old Gold,

Just did mine this past weekend, not a bad job.
Took me about 32oz to flush the system, might take more in yours, depends on condition of old fluid.
Started with the right rear, then left rear, then right front, and finally left front.
You have two choices:
1 have someone pump, while you bleed the line.
2 purchase an evacuater (spelling?) and do it yourself, around 40 to 50 bucks.

First time I ever used a hand pump evacuater, but was an easy one man (or woman) job.
Took about 15 minutes per wheel.
When the job was completed, brake pedal felt noticably firmer.

Good Luck!

And make sure to use only DOT 4.
Make sure to use lots of sound deadening spray to cut your chance of brake squeak.
Also plan on cleaning and repacking/replacing all your wheel bearing and seals.
