Default Brake help

I went to change my brakes on my 98 Disco1 today, I noticed the tool used to compress the piston and was just going to use my c-clamp. However, I can't get this to work. I have tried everything I can think of. Any suggestions???

When I do them, I compress with my 12" channel locks.
I open bleeder into a bottle & go slow.
Then I refill master w/ new dot4 as needed
Good luck

I have been looking on other forums and they have a diffrent caliper than I, may be disco2's I don't really know. Mine you don't have to remove the caliper, supposedly, there is 2 pins holding the brake pads in and when you remove them the pads just lift out. However, I can't get the pistons to compress. My c clamp is too big but I can't find one that will work either.

Try a C-clamp vise grip. Or of you are in a pinch, a large flathead screwdriver. I used the screw driver on mine, but make sure you are on the very egde of the rotor, not on the braking surface. I am sure this is not the "right" way to do it , and Mike may yell at me, but it worked in a pinch until I got the right tool for the rear. Make sure to open your bleeder screws before compressing them so all of the crap doesn't go back up your lines. and, as always, bleed them after.

Good luck.
