So it sounds like the new brakes are a must. Have a few questions though. What are the best rotors front and back. Is there a good upgrade for calibers. Buy loaded or rebuild. This will be for a 2002 disco 2.

Are you sure the calipers are bad? I have 120K on mine and they are still good. You may just need to flush them well.

A few weeks ago, I installed EBC rotors and Akebono Ceramic pads on the front of my 04. So far, all is good. I made those selections based on the experience of others here on the forum. I picked up the pads and rotors for about $170 for the front side from Auto Parts Warehouse. Hope this helps.

I went with the Genuine Rover pads front & Rear. DBA(Disc Brakes Australia) Slotted drilled rear. Vented slotted heat treated for the front. I did this at 73k and now at 92k all has been good with a recent full brake bleed and stainless steel brake line install...Because they are cool. More stopping power is nice.

Right now it is just a question about calibers. This weekend will tell what everything is needed.

im using hawk lts pads on the range rover and porterfield r4s pads on the d1. love em both so far. they both dust, but they stop well too. had akebono euro ceramics on the range before and didn't care for em. for rotors, im using brembo blanks. you can spend more for the fancy rotors, but you're not going to notice an improvement. the pads are the ones that make all the difference.

Plain rotors--ceramic pads--I can actually stop this heavy pig!

Akebona ceramic pads are great and are cheapest at Amazona.com, EUR676 for the fronts and EUR493's for the rear for D2's.
As for using, "OEM" pads on DBA, they won't last well. Also OEM, for the most part, does not mean they are Rover made, just made to be something near equal to factory pad, which by the way are actually made by 3 different companies.
