Default Brake Problems

I recently replaced the brakes on my '00 Disco II with about 87,000 miles on it. It was a kit from Atlantic British with EBC Green Stuff pads. The rear caliper guide pin boots were torn, but I just cleaned them up a bit. The right rear pads are almost completely gone after about 2500 miles. They have been dragging, but I didn't think it was that bad. Anyone have any ideas on what could have caused this? The others seem to be wearing normally (almost no wear). Could it have been the guide pins or could the brake line have collapsed, or could it be the caliper itself? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You need to overhaul your calipers, pins and do a complete brake flush afterwards.

I would recommend that you buy a set of rear calipers. I have them each for $85.00 . By the way--- it is always a good idea to replace these as a "axle set" -- just in case the other caliper is starting to seize like yours already did, and then cause erratic braking. The caliperre-build kit is $20.00 (each), and then if you add the shop labor rate for the R&R ,tear down,andre-build time, it makes more sense to fit new ones. Oh...one more thing. You need to put in a new set of pads. I have PBR pads that we have used quite successfully now for years on the Land Rovers we service.

Call me at 925-335-2669 for details, or visit my site at www.eurotekapg.com

regards,

Geoman
