brakes follow up
Mike,
Thanks for your help. I got my quote, and it is approx 250 for front and 250 for rear. These are OEM pads and he said it would knock about 200 (50 each pad) off if he used aftermarket pads. He said that in the past, his experience has been that aftermarket pads still squeal after being installed. Years ago, my father helped me change the pads on my Jeep but I barely remember doing it. I am not a mechanical genious, but do feel I could change the pads. I just do not have the time with the upcoming trip. What do you think of the cost? Is there a quick way to check the pads for wear myself to know if both front and back are needed?
Thanks,
John

The only way to tell the condition of the brake pads would be to remove the wheels and do a visial inspection.
If you are going to be doing mainly highway driving, you won't pick up any additional wear and could probably wait til you return. I would then be glad to walk you thru doing the pads if you want.
Auto Zone has some new lifetime guaranteed ceramic pads, that from all I have heard are pretty good for a total cost of about $150.
