Default Brakes need pumping to work

Hello,

I've got a 94Disco, 100k miles. The driver's side front caliper busted a seal while I was driving and I lost all braking power. There was fluid in the reservoir a tiny bit below the minimum line when I got home. So I replaced the caliper, bled the line and topped up the fluid . Now the brakes need to be pumped a couple/few times to stop the car. If I press just once, the pedal hits the firewall but there is some stopping power. The other calipers aren't leaking from what I can see.

Is this a sign of the master cylinder being dead? I did a search and couldn't find any answers so far.

Thanks,
RM

If you bled them properly then I would say master cylinder.

How much and which DOT fluid did you use, did you rebleed the master cylinder before doing a complete 4 wheel bleed, apx 3 to 4 ints?

Hey Mike,

No I did not rebleed the master cylinder. I didn't even know I had to do that, or how to do it. I will look up how to do it and bleed the four wheels then master.
