Default Break Dust Shields...

Anybody use them on their wheels? Are they worth it?

Parts Bin - Auto Parts and Accessories Catalog - Brake Dust Shields

Cleaned my wheels this weekend and for the most part, they weren't too bad. Used a Mister Kleen Magic Eraser and worked wonders. But, one of the rear wheels on the cars had brake dust that was basically baked onto the wheel. I was wondering if these covers would do any good. Seems like a good idea to me.

It's a bad idea. You will be restricting air flow that the brakes need to cool down. Hot brakes = less braking ability.

Do not use, that is a terrible idea/ invention. Clean your wheels with brake dust remover.

Alright. 2 for 2. Thanks guys. I'll disregard that thought process and just use good 'ol elbow grease to keep them clean.

Bad idea, rotors need air to cool off after braking otherwise your rotors will warp. Ceramic pads is best

Get some ceramic Akebono pads and you won't have to worry about brake dust.

Better yet, start running some good brake pads, like Akebono Ceramic pads, they make no dust, stop faster, last longer and don't squeak.
I HAVEN'T HAD TO WASH MY WHEELS IN OVER 1 1/2 YEARS since installing them.

Go for it and use them.
They do not restrict air flow to the brakes any more than a steel wheel does.
The vents on the rotors is what cools them.

not a good idea if you plan to ever go offroad, i can see tons of mud getting trapped between the rotor and the shields
