Default Broke some coolant tubes :(

So I was working away at new brakes and shocks today. I finished the rear end yesterday and started the passenger front today.
As I was removing the coolant overflow tank I wasn't too careful and snapped the two hard plastic lines coming out of the top near the cap. I traced one to the other side of the top of the radiator but I have no freaking clue where the other one went. That one goes down lower but I can't figure out where the other half of the plastic went.

I took some pictures maybe you guys can help me out here.

Why are these hard brittle plastic? Can I replace them with rubber or what?
Where do I get new ones if I can't use rubber? Does it have to be from the dealer? I need them quick..

Does that lower line go onto this nipple?

This downward one

Those are supposed to be open. The second picture is the overflow.

Here is the plumbing chart from the RAVE. That one in the picture that is low looks like maybe a cruise control pump?

I had to replace the line that goes across the front to the radiator and it was very brittle from heat and age. I got a new one from Atlantic British or there is also Rover's north. I kind of wish I went back with rubber hose however. Haven't heard from others but I don't see how that could be a problem.

That is what I was told when I had the same question after just purchasing my DII.

so the other one that point down is overflow and is hooked up to nothing and I'm panicking for nothing?

I guess I can leave that alone right?

So I can replace the front long one with rubber right? No harm done there...

For a patch could I just put rubber between the two breaks?

Yes the one pointed down is overflow. You could try a temporary patch but I found as soon as I started handling that brittle tubing to try and put rubber on it, it will continue to break. Also, if it breaks and you loose coolant while driving you will be too hot before your truck actually tells you. For a temporary fix I would put the rubber gas line across there. And it might be my final fix, Savannah could tell you whether that is a good permanent fix.

I have done the same. Glad I found they were so brittle at the right time, when I was already working on it. I broke the first one that goes over the rad putting the air box back together after the K&N filter.

Broke the second one that goes to straight across when I was putting the 8th plug in. Again glad it happened when I was already working on it

I replace the entire lines with rubber. Forget that brittle stuff.

And like stated, the second line is an over flow

Don't forget to check the line that goes from reserve tank to just under the throttle body also. Mine was leaking and burning on the engine so I didn't see a leak until I saw the marks on valve cover gasket.

I want to replace with all rubber. I'm happy I broke the darn thing while in my driveway doing shocks and brakes.

Thanks guys I;ll check the other two spots too.
