Broken barn door hinge
Great day in D2 land today! Went out to load my skis into the rear of my D2 and the barn door just about fell off when the upper hinge snapped. Luckily my wife has a "real" car LOL, so I took her RAV4 skiing but I need to get my D2 drivable.
Anyone replace the hinges on the barn door before? Is it as simple as unbolting the old ones, bolting the new ones in, lining up the door, and dropping in the hinge pin?
I know the door is a beast, can 2 people handle lifting it into place?
Thanks Guys! My 3 Amigo repair is gonna have to wait.....

Well, I guess I will update my own thread. I removed the upper broken hinge which was quite easy to do. This allowed me to close the barn door, so my truck is now drivable. I ordered a used set of hinges from Paul Grant, so should install those and hopefully good to go.
Noticed my subwoofer speakers were completely shot when I pulled the tailgate interior panel, so will use these when I put everything back:
JL Audio C2-650X Evolution™ Series 6-1/2" 2-way car speakers
Available Amazon prime for $131.44

Just a thought, Andy. When I replaced the two subs in the back, I cut the wires to the tweeters on my 2-way speakers. If they are getting sub level signal, chances are, the tweeters are inoperative anyway.
Just FYI, one of the hinges (I guess the bottom since you've already removed the top) has a rivet you'll have to drill out. No need to replace it really, the D1s had the same hinges with no rivet.
Since I am not an audiophile, can you explain this a little more for me Joemamma? What are the advantages of cutting the wires to the tweeters? Where are these wires?
Thanks!
Andy
Thanks for the advise Alex. I have removed the upper hinge, but not the lower.
I did read about those rivets in the lower hinge, was wondering if they needed to be replaced as I dont have a rivet gun, and space is pretty limited there and I plan on doing all the work with the door in place. Would not want to remove that beast of a door!
It is probably nothing to be concerned about, since most of the tweeters will have an electronic filter to protect the tweeter from the sub level signal. The two way speakers are designed to be like one size fits all, as compared to the component speakers which come with a cross-over to make protect the speakers. I was just throwing that out there.
