Default Broken Bleed Screw - Dorman Replacement part?

My bleed screw unfortunately broke in half. Autozone carried the following part I found by searching for a bmw bleed screw mentioned on this forum.

Any thoughts/warnings? I used the old larger oring. The length is slightly different.

Go for it. It'll work.
I've got this documented on my Disco 2 cheat sheet:
"- Radiator Tee bleed screw Dorman #902-404; same bleeder screw on BMWs from 1985-2009 and on Mini Coopers"

@Chris59 I have a container of those bleed screws I scavenged from wrecked BMW's I carry in my Disco after one cracked. They work fine.

I bought the screw, but is it worth having an extra tee (the whole unit)? Has this ever failed on you?

Also, any advantage to a brass screw other than it won’t break? I was worried it would leak or I would damage the plastic threads.

i had a Tee fail on me. it crumbled and then broke all at once. fortunately, i had a couple spares lying around.

go with the brass screw. one less thing to worry about breaking.

Is it likely a broken bleed screw would cause a large coolant leak? Just surprised I lost so mush coolant through a tiny crack - I suppose the pressure helps with that. My engine was covered.

You are asking the wrong question, you should be asking why I have so many spares. Search for the last post from Pete C. Or search for inline thermostat.

ah, clearly I didn’t spend enough time looking at your kit instructions. Tee/screw is eliminated? Well, since your kit should arrive before this weekend I suppose I no longer need screw.
