Broken upper shock bolt!
Well this sucks... was replacing my rear shocks when the top bolt, passenger side snapped. Half the bolt is still holding the shock in place... just... the end that is still in place is likely sheared right back to the retaining nut
access is tight - can't think of a worse place to get in and try and extract a sheared bolt to be honest.
anyone had to deal with this before?

If you have access to a compressor and a Pneumatic cutting wheel...cut the steel portion of the upper shock that goes around the rubber bushing, cut in two places so it will eventually move out of the way, then cut the rubber bushing with a razorblade knife. Once you are that far, take a small torch and heat the threaded end, while turning the rest of the bolt with a pair of locking vise grips pliers.
If you don't, you could always drill the bolt out. Might need an off-set/angled head drill, but they are worth buying and having anyway. Then just drill out the rest of the broken bolt and replace with a new through bolt and nut.
St. Louis Pneumatic 4 in. Cut-Off Tool with Cutting Wheel-SLP82032 - The Home Depot__
Irwin Vise Grip 10Wr (#0502L3) Curved Jaw Locking Plier
3/8" Angle Head Air Drill
Both of these tools are available in a electric models also.
Good luck,
Brian.
