Bumper Replacement on D2

Bumper Replacement on D2
All,
I am about to embark upon the next stage of upgrading my 02 D2. Yesterday I removed the front bumper cover.
Here’s the step-by-step process:
1)Drive to work
2)Pull into parking spot driving D2 onto top of large snow bank, right front wheel first
3)Shut-off engine and leaveDisco parked on top of snow bank with suspension fully articulated
4)Admire how cool Land Rover looks parked on snow bank
5)Leave work building to go to lunch
6)Scramble into significantly tilted drivers seat and start engine
7)BackD2 off of snow bank while simultaneously tearing off 90% of front bumper cover, fog lights, and windshield washers.
8)Get out ofD2 and laugh at what just took place.
9)Go home and remove last remnants of bumper cover.
Time/ Cost required – about 30seconds / none, since I do not plan to replace stock bumper cover
Instant significant increase in off road approach angle – priceless.
Having an excuse to put on Winch Bumper – also priceless
Here's the question(s):
TJM stats that there bumpers/bull bars are airbag compliant and therefore tow rings should not be installed directly onto the bumper/bullbar but rather should be mounted directly to the frame. And I have also read on the forum that large towing loads applied to stock front tow ring can "tweak" front bumper cushions.
The RoverTym slimline bumpers have tow hooks right on the bumper. Are they getting rid of of the front bumper cushions? Should an airbag system defeat switch be added to allow the airbags to be turned off when off-roading?
Thoughts appreciated,
JeffQ

RE: Bumper Replacement on D2
Mike,
Thanks.
And thanks for helping me with the right word for the "crush cans"
I have read that you have in the past shared the details of your bumper design.
Would you be willing to do so once again?
I have a neighbor that really likes to weld, has helped me in the past, and would jumo at the chance to build a bumper for me.
Regards,
JeffQ
