04 DII

The Traction Controll and Hill descent light come on and the truck shuts off.

When it quits - Relay #9 (shown as "MAIN RELAY") is buzzing.

If you wiggle/pound on/remove and replace/ the relay - the buzzing stops and the truck will start. The truck will then run for 30 seconds to 5 minutes before it shuts of.

I replaced the relay with the same result.

I unplugged all conectors - sprayed with contact cleaner reasembled with the same result.

Recently changed the water pump and installed PIAA's

Thoughts?
What is my next step?

Did this all start after installing the PIAA's?, if so that's where I would be looking. Undo whatever you did to install the lights and see if the problem goes away. Depending on where you powered up your lights, you may have melted some wiring due to running excessive amperage through some wires. Might be worthwhile to look at the backside of the relay panel for signs of overheating.

 

We replaced the fuse panel under the hood and it appears to have solved the problem.

I think we got some anti-freeze around the panel when bleeding the new water pump and this led to the problem.
