Default a/c compressor

Couple question for the guys who know. This is for a 1999 discovery II with 100,000 miles. Can you just swap compressors or is it a drier and all the goodies too? Also what does the ACE system do and can you just swap shocks? Got hard clunking noise in the front when you turn. Any ideas? Thanks for your help. It time to spend some money or trade. Trying to figure out what to do.

Pretty sure you need to do a total swap just like any a/c system. If your don't you will have junk flying around in the new compressor.

ACE is for cornering. You have litte hydraulic shocks to help prevent roll in corners. Is it just a one time clunk? I would have someone help you pinpoint the noise better. Can't really help much there. You could find an indy Rover shop near you and let them check it out if you aren't too mechanical. I don't have ACE, but I am sure someone that does on here may be of more help...

Cheers

The clunk, if heard always when turning in one direction is a failing CV joint in the front diff, need to stop driving the truck till you fins a mechanic who can replace it, otherwise you will break it while driving and believe me you don't want to go thru that expense.
As for the ACE, other then servicing it, leave it alone, it is a good feature.
For shocks, use only Old Man Emu H.D. or Bilstein shocks.
