Cool A/C Compressor odd noise

I have a 2003 Disco SE with 85,000 miles. Has absolutely been problem free for me. In the last couple of days I have noticed an odd sound from the area of the compressor. I don't even know how to describe it because it does not squeal but could be bearing noise. However the A/C still works perfectly so has anyone had this issue and did it eventually lead to replacement of the compressor. The noise is not very loud but it is annoying to me because the truck has always run very quiet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It could be the belt slipping when the A/C engages, make sure the belt tension is not to tight. If it is too tight, other things will start to fail, such as the alternator, water pump, etc. If the compressor is actually making that noise, expect either replacing or rebuilding it.
