For anyone finding this thread in search of a replacement motor: VDO PM9128 from AutoZone worked for me. $70. Identical looking housing and exact fit, and matching the wires by color pushes air in the correct direction (toward the engine). As far as specs of the replacement motor versus the original, I can't find any data in the RAVE or in my searches to indicate RPM or CFM or whatever the crucial spec might be. Can anyone provide the specs or requirements for the original motor?

I'd bank on RPM being the key since CFM is probably more a function of the blades given that the motor has enough torque to spin them and the air that they push—that is, I'm saying torque is probably secondary to RPM in this application. At any rate, if anyone cares to know, the original motor had 16 poles and the replacement motor had 20 poles. Now, I'm no electrical engineer, but all other things being equal, that should mean the replacement motor is capable of producing a little more torque at a reduced RPM. How much less RPM and is it within an acceptable range? I can't say... but at a quarter of the price with no hacking it sounds good and strong to me and it's enough to satisfy this guy whose fan was a brick of rust and probably hadn't worked for half a dozen years or longer.
