Default A/C fan not working

I have a 2000 Discovery.
The A/C fan does not blow air as of three days ago.
It has worked flawlessly in the past.
I can hear the compressor kick on when I engage the A/C system.
I can feel cool air seeping through the vents, but no fan.
I've checked fuses. All are good.
The dealer tells me it is either a relay or the blower motor.

Where is the relay that they are referring to and is it difficult to replace?

Great forum. Thanks!

The dealer is right. you can see if you got power going to the blower motor, but i don't know were they are on these trucks.

Could be a slight chance it is the resistor pack other wise it is a motor, are you thinking about replacing it yourself?

Despite the age of the thread it has been most helpful, I experienced the exact same problem.

From this thread I used a jumper wire where the relay is suppose to be, and the system works normally.

I will be replacing the relay but I have notice inconsistent prices, from 89 dollars to 26 dollars.

Is this correct??

Thank you for the thread.

Turn on your A/C Then unplug your fan. Test the plug for 12 volts. If the fan not turning its seized up. Mine was. I got a used one on eBay for around $40. Sold the old one for $25 as rebuild-able on eBay. Someone bought it and no complaints. So $15 later and some patience. Wa La. Been working for over a year. And you can definently hear it running.

Rover AC fans are highly prized because the window ECU and or rollers have usually failed. Another good item for DIY owners that prowl the salvage yards, you learn how to take it apart on someone else's chassis...

This just happened to me yesterday - AC fan stopped blowing. Went through the usual basics (checking the control unit, checking the fuses) and saw nothing wrong. On a later startup of the car, the fan started to blow air, then shut itself off again. I'm going to be digging into it with an enthusiast tonight, but this doesn't sound like a failed blower motor to me, more like it's some kind of electronic glitch. Thoughts?

Disco II, 145k, only owned it for about 4 months.

Thanks, Russ - that helps. I'm going to check it thoroughly, but at least someone else has had similar experience. I had hoped it would be something simpler (read as: cheaper)...

The after it has cooled off and then "runs for a short time and shuts off" sounds like heating up just enough to sieze, soon it will sleep with the fishes.
