Default A/C not working

Hi, I'm trying to fix my A/C. on my 2003 HSE Discover NO rear air.

So far....I have had it vacc and charged my a garage. As we vacc it, it did hold with a SLIGHT drop (according to mechanic it was with in a reasonable range). As it charged, we go NO cold air comming from the system at all. I checked the vent doors inside the car and it seems to have been working correctly as it was switching from cold to hot to cold position as I could hear it moving.

Now the line down by my dryer did burst about an hour after the charge...it was corroded. I replaced that and THEN my compressor began leaking at the front and rear seals. I am going to go to a junk yard and get another one.

Any suggestions on where else to look after? Even if there is a leak, shouldn't I get at least a quick blast of cold air as the low pressure line DID ice up while charging....

Thought?

Is the HVAC fan working?
Is the a/c compressor coming on?

There is a thermostatic expansion valve on the return line. With the a/c on, check the larger rear line and see if it is getting cold. It should be wrapped in insulation, so it may be easier to open the rear box. The valve should control the flow of refrigerant to the rear coil. If that valve is plugged, it will not flow through and will not cool. If the line is cold, you should check the blend door.

The Rave manual is a free download in my sig. It has all of the components and routing diagrams you need.

Well I just started the car and put the a/c on to check the fan. I pulled the grill off and noticed that the front fan, right behind the grill, was not moving at all. I stuck a screwdriver in there to see if I could move it and discovered that it is frozen solid.

If this fan is not working, could this cause my problem? (before I go any deeper since it's easy to get at and fix.)

Yes, yes it will.
A/C needs air moving past it to work, no air movement no worky.
The whole purpose of that fan is to move air past the a/c.

You can fix yours for $60.

With that fan being frozen you also stand a chance of overheating your engine in stop and go city driving.
