A/C question

Is there any way to drain the oil out of the a/c system without removing the compressor? The reason I ask is that I think my D1 has too much oil in it. The a/c didn't work when I bought it, so I thought I would add a can of freon. I have the gauge an hoses an have serviced several cars with no problem. When I did, the compressor kicked on fine but the air was still warm and my gauge read a full charge. I have heard of people adding top off kits with freon and oil and those so called "boosters", causing to much oil in the system thus taking up the space that the freon needs. I have also borrowed my friend gauge and got the same readings. Is my conclusion about the extra oil and crap sound? Please help as it is getting warm!!!

The only way to tell what is going on is to take it and have it vacuumed out.
The cheapest kind of place would be a Jiffy Lube kind of store $90-$125 is common.
They can hook up there A.C. machine and pull everything out.
Every time you use the small bottles of R134a you also add a little air due to
the line that is used, this will give a higher reading than is normal and the A.C.
will still not have all the R134a it needs to run right.
After this it may work find if nothing else is wrong.

It should be cold to the touch, reall cold if it is hot out and you are holding 2000 rpms for a couple of minutes. I would question the guage you are using, unless it has both guages, you can't get a good reading on what is going on. Does your truck have a sight glass, if so, do you see air in the line at 1000 rpms?

If you have air in the site glass,you are low on freon. Usually the only time and bubbles might show up would be at an idle, otherwise there will be no air.
The rear system works of the same lines so don't worry about it.
I would suggest you go to an auto shop and have them throw some good guages on your system to see what it needs, may only need more freon, and if you try and over charge it, you could screw up the whole thing.
