Went this morning to pick up some chicken biscuits and coffee for the fiancee and I and came home and noticed a package stuffed behind my planter. The shaft is painted black and came with two stickers. I wish the "My shaft is a woody" or whatever sticker was smaller as it is too big to use.

It doesn't say in the directions but do I need to grease it again before installation? Any secrets or extra tips anyone has for proper fitment?

My old shaft isn't broken but I haven't driven the disco in a few weeks after it started making noise again. After installation I'm going fill up the tank and add in a can of that stuff (mind is dead this early in the am)

 

No secrets or special tips for installing.
Just maintain it. Grease it every oil change. Pump in grease to each u-joint until you see new grease coming out of all four seals on each u-joint.
Grease the slip joint.
Grease the center bearing.

 

Put it on the same way your old shaft is set up, pretty easy.
By the way, there is a market for used drive shafts.

 

When I took it out completely it was obvious it was greased. Little heavier than my old shaft. I'm headed out the door to put it in now.

 

Just installed it. Nothing to the installation. Got it up to 70 on the way to the gas station and all seemed good.

Supply and demand. I paid $25 for one, $50 for another.

 

I'm going to order a new shaft from them on Monday. I've read that some guys have had to have their new TW driveshaft balanced. That doesn't sound right to me. Did you notice any vibrations with it compared to the original?

 

I too have heard of several people needing their TW drives shaft balanced.
But I would not let that stop you from buying one.

 

I'm still going to go with the TW shaft.
I figured that I would ask KBW about vibrations since he just installed one.
I'm hoping that Tom Woods has improved their balancing since the other guys got theirs.
