Camshaft bearings 04 SE7
Hi
I found a camshaft bearing in my oil pan and need to replace the cam shaft bearings. The Rave manual shows how to remove the camshaft and I can do that, but would like any advice I can get for the bearing replacement.
It has 200K miles and other than the low oil pressure at hot idle which is only noticeable due to the light you wouldn't know it's missing a bearing by driving it.

I just took a block to the shop to be top hatted and they called and said the cam bearings were already .10 over and had been pinned.
He said he would fix it. Not sure what he is doing, but I will have an answer this weekend.
Point being, not so sure it's just a matter of fitting a new bearing.
Are you sure it was a Cam bearing and not a main bearing? The cam bearings are a full circle, and main bearings are split. I don't think your motor would be operational if it passed a whole bearing
Good point, or even a rod bearing.
It is identical to the ones in the kit except it has a spot where it wore through. It was straight and had a piece broken off when I found it. There is a chance the Rover Mechanic that did my rear main seal put it in there to try to up sell me if I ever came back, but I doubt it. And yeah, the rover runs great!
Sorry, I couldn't upload from my phone earlier. I believe it is a camshaft bearing because the puzzle piece looking ends are similar to the one bearing in the set that I have seen online.
That puzzle piece end doesn't look like any of my rod or main bearings, for sure. I don't know what the heck that is. I haven't examined my cam bearings other than handing them to the engine guy but that's the only other bearing in the case. That worn section is amazing!!!!!
