Default Can rear driveline parts wear out in just 3 months?

I sent my disco in for a look since I was noticing some vibrations at 30 and 70 mph. Since I had them check the driveshaft three months ago, I thought it might be that the tires needed balancing. But I had them check the front driveshaft again just in case and they came back to tell me that my rear driveline rubber coupler was badly cracked and the rear pinion seal is leaking. Funny thing, I had the exact same thing changed by them three months/3,000 miles ago. When I brought this to their attention, they said that they were surprised that their parts wore out so quickly. I'm not off-roading, just normal highway driving. So can these parts wear out so fast? Or should I start looking for another mechanic? These guys have been great thus far and have had good reviews from other clients. I'd like to give them the benefit of doubt but... wearing out after only three months?

I would push them to warranty their parts and labor or push an action on them.
A roto flex, if installed in the right direction should last for a long time, my first one last 80,000 plus the second one has 30,000 on it and going strong.

I actually just ordered one from british pacific today for $80, does anyone know what kind this is and how long I can expect it to last if it is the britpart brand? by the way mine is actually coming apart and I don't feel safe driving the truck, I am afraid it will give out and cause more damage.

If they replaced your pinion seal because it was leaking and now it is leaking again that is because your axle breather is clogged.
When it gets clogged (just from age) the differential will build up pressure and then it will force itself out of the weakest point.

Mike is right about installing the roto flex in the right direction. I replaced mine after 120K and did not pay attention that there was a ¨right¨ way. Only lasted about 6K.

Thanks all for your comments! The shop replaced the coupler and seal for free. According to them, the new coupler is an original LandRover item, they apparently did not know the maker of the coupler that they installed 3 months ago.

Did you see the box that it came in? All genuine parts come in the same looking boxes. Glad to see they took care of you and I am guessing they had the first one in wrong.
