Can someone walk me through plug/wire replacement?
I'm desperate, must get my truck working today so it can get me to work tomorrow.
After 15 minutes of wrestling with plug #1, I still haven't gotten it out, and have no idea how anyone gets these in or out - my forearms are getting cut up trying to reach in that cramped place and pull them.
Can someone please walk me through how to do this? I took out spark plug #1, then slowly unclipped #1 wire, and now, trying to pull it from the bar, I can't! Am I missing something? Is there a trick, a tool? Time is running out on me....I need some assistance....

Follow these instructions but I warn you, changing the wires is a time consuming (and knuckle bustingly frustrating) job! If it's a time crunch see if just replacing the plugs fix your miss fires. If you're set on doing the wires today follow this:

Also, remove your old plugs and inspect them to see if they match any conditions on this page: Spark Plug Colors Reading Instructions - ATV Technical Articles

And putting the new wires back on the coil packs, be sure and keep things quiet, you need to hear the "click, click, click" of the new wire to know it was seated. You'll have to rotate and try to keep the post in the center of the cap while trying to push them on. They are a serious PITA and you'll find yourself exhausted and praying to hear that faint click-click-click on the last couple of plugs! Just make sure you get the sequence correct so you don't have to do it a second time like I did!

Great walk-through!
Just did this myself after being quoted at more than $500 for the shop to do it. I did not have to remove any of the components listed, although I did drop the wire bundle out of the way. I also suggest a good pair of Mechanix gloves (I cut the fingertips out for better tactile feel) and a flexible claw pickup tool to hold and position each wire as you attempt to connect them at the coil.
Contrary to what I thought when I started out, it CAN be done. Takes about 90 minutes with the right tools, light and workspace.

90 Minutes! Wow!
It ended up taking me about 5 hours - including removal of all the stuff in my way (and I have VERY petite hands!), taking pictures of it for re-installation...and a ton of cursing and getting ready to throw in the towel!
I used the E3-48 plugs recommended by Disco Mike, and the Kingsborne wires that were also recommended. I only had Nitrile gloves, as the only mechanic gloves I could find came in M-L-XL..... I am an XS or S at best....
The good news: I've been driving my 2004 Disco since the latest repair with zero problems.
Meaning: I love my Disco again :-)

It's a 2002, no SAI. I installed a set of Bosch wires, and it's smoothed out some. Still waiting on the Service Engine light to come back on and tell me what else to fix. But hopefully those misfire codes are gone.
