Can these plugs used for measuring transmission temperature?
I tried to make Torque Pro reading out the trans temp through a custom PID I found on the internet, but that doesn't work. I could simply install a temp sensor somewhere on the transmission (I already have oil pressure/temp sensors installed which I monitor with Torque Pro), but the question is where. I found these two plugs (red dots) which look like good candidates, but what do the experts say?
Probably I found the answer to my question. The ports in question are the pump's suction and pressure ports (what they are there for is a different question).

So it looks like you can even measure the transmission fluid pressure. I wonder why would one measure it. At least I will try to use the suction port for temperature measurement. I got a VDO temp sensor (NTC, M14x1.5) and the workshop manual says it is an M14 bolt, I hope that fits.
Strangely enough the new Autool OBD gauge outputs an oil temperature reading. It reads within the range expected for the transmission, but I have been able to verify which sensor it is getting the reading from.

Which sensors do you have installed that you can read them with torque pro? Is the VDO sensor you added to the transmission working well?
I just added oil temp, oil pressure, and some other sensors and that works very well with Torque Pro (with an ATMega microcontroller board + BT interface and some custom software).
Transfer case sensor is already bolted in, the transmission sensor needs to go in, then wiring and it's done. The factory temp data of the VDO sensor the were quite off, so I had to measure it myself (it took some time to get this done). I need to complete a new ambient air sensor and when this is done, I will do it all in one shot.

This is techy and I like it! Sadly I think for most unless you offer a package as plug/play as a glowshift gauge, there may not be much interest.
