Default Cannot remove interior shifter casing!

Hello, I have a 95 Disco, automatic. I need to take a close look at my transfer case. I cannot get the plastic casing (shift plate + molding) off from the inside of the truck. I found the screws in the compartment between seats but it is still catching. Please advise.

Default Need advice about centre console

To be more precise, I need to know how to take off the center console. Must I first take apart (un-glue) the trim on the plastic mold? I have removed the 2x screws in the the center console storage bin. Also should I use vicegrips on the 4x4 selector to remove the **** since it turns (anticlockwise) with the "arm"? Thanks for ANY advice.

The center console once off has no way to see or work on
the transfer case.
All the linkage is under the truck.

Default RE: Need advice about centre console

Thanks for being kind enough to reply Landzu! I appreciate it.
The problem arrived all of a sudden while in my driveway. I went from D to R then N. Once in N, it never wanted to shift back to D. The Low & High selector for the 4x4 are not 'locking' either. (The engine has been changed recently and it seems fine. The transmission has also been changed two years ago.)
Right now it’s on a lift and I’m awaiting the news.
