Can't find this in the Rave manual
I have the truck apart replacing a power steering pump and I noticed an odd part that I could not find in the Rave manual diagrams. It is a cone shaped ring that sits behind the crankshaft pulley and it is loose (see picture, the end of the screwdriver is pointing to it. I recall several months ago I started hearing a clanging noise and thought it might be a loose timing chain. Now I am thinking that this might be the cause. Anyone know what this is? I don't think it is part of the seal. Thanks for the holiday help.
I believe that piece is part of the crankshaft pulley/harmonic damper. If it is loose then your crankshaft pulley might not be on tight or your pulley might be going bad. It needs to be tightened to 200lbf.ft. Have you removed the timing over recently?
