Hello,
Im refreshing my 2000 Disco and putting in new rod bearings (maybe Crank Bearings too if needed). I have just installed a set I got online but I realized as I started to torque the first con rod that I It was grabbing the crank shaft. Just looked through the rave manual again and I see that the "standard" bearings I bought are actually oversized .254mm. Im not trying to machine my crank shaft as it looks to be in good shape with no signs or wear or scoring so I would like to put in the factory sized bearings. I have now been looking for about 45 minutes and can only fine the over sized bearing sets on various sites. Could anyone help me out and point me to where I can find a reasonably priced?
UPDATE: I think eBay has saved me after searching for a good hour across other parts stores...

hmmmm....I have a set of 'standard' size from AB.....that would suck if they are not 'standard' meant not standard .....
kristoffersmith: what size was your original set that did not fit?
You need to put the upper and lower together and measure the I.D with a bore gage.
But, you could get by with calipers, since you don't need to be 100% accurate, you're just trying to see if they are closer to stock or oversize.
I can measure all the dimensions, just curious if AB brand 'standard' really is Land Rover 'standard' because I bought them 5 months ago and probably can't return then if i'm wrong.........will have to check bearing stamps.....
I will grab a caliper and put some measurements up later tonight. It’s been somewhat frustrating but standard size doesn’t necessarily equate to a specific number. I guess it would be the conrod journal diameter plus the tolerance.
so I have returned after buying another set of bearings and this time the bearings are so small they don’t even fit in the connecting rods. I’ve measured my original bearing diameter and compared it with the oversize bearings that I received in my original purchase. Could anyone direct me in what bearing size I actually need?
Original bearings diameter 55.59mm .254 over size bearing diameter 55.31mm
