...what you see is the pipe broken off, still the rest remains lodge inside the orifice. I guess besides time, water, coolant and rust making the pipe swell-up against the plenum, the previous owner/s and/or mechanics had to put some kind of sealant to it that sold it tight, sadly that thing wasn't going to come out pulling or pushing.

My AC friend will swing by this weekend to torch and dremmel the remains off with care; cuz even how it is now, it is not easy to chip away what's left.

Once off I'll evaluate the orifice damages, and if necessary to replace the plenum, so as you may see, we're not out of the woods just yet! ;-]#

So they epoxied or glued it in, or something?!

This fight was rigged.

Unless they welded it, or worse, JB welded it, heat will turn it back to goo.

At this point you should consider using a drill bit or two.

...the approach tomorrow will be to heat-it up first ...if it fails, will try to dremmel-it, or as you and Mollusc suggest, use a drill bit ...if succeed, I'll just flush the system thoroughly in hopes of getting all remains of metal shaving out ...insert the replacement pipe and move on to the rocker cover situation!

Not sure how you would install the replacement pipe, since the tail end of the original pipe is still in the plenum piece so your hole won't be big enough. You're going to have to get it out of there one way or another.

...you're right MOLLUSC, there's still a piece inside the plenum, that's why I'll go "Marsellus Wallace" on the biatch and "..call a coupla hard, pipe-hittin' ****ers, who'll go to work on the homes here with a pair of pliers and a blow torch. You hear me talkin', hillbilly boy? I ain't through with you by a damn sight. I'ma get medieval on your ***." ;-]#

..:: WKND UPDATE ::..

No progress yet on the "return pipe removal" situation; torch couldn't make it here yesterday, although it should today, as my friend told me; anyways bought a mini hacksaw to try and saw the stuck neck down a bit if need be.

On the flip side, much progress was done on the LH rocker cover and assembly -thanks CHARLIE_V for the total support, guidance & pics, can't thank enough!- it now looks way much better; next step on this situation will be to go get a "torque wrench" to put it back together and move on to the RH side.

Hopefully these two tasks will be completed today -wifey is requesting a much deserved "Memorial Day Weekend" beach day, so will stop when this day ends, and resume whatever is left of work on Tuesday.

..:: Be safe out there you Roverers ::..
