It's been mentioned, and read already. but may have differ problem, or it was not explained in detail for me.

Cargo door, will not open, the lock move up and down as should when driver key is turned. Will not open from inside, nor outside. The handle feels the same when i try to open it weather the lock is pull up or down. I do not feel any difference when i try weather its up nor down. I read to remove the emblem, wd40, is this my case. if so, how do i remove it, flat head and pry? If not the case, other suggestions please.

 

To remove the emblem you can use your key, there is a little slot for removing the emblem.
Do not use WD40, it will not only attract dirt it will also cause rust because it has water in it. Use silicone spray.
Your problem is internal. The latch is broken. CandiMan did a nice write up on this, most likely the spring on the latch inside the door is broken.

 

While i'm thinking of it, my ignition/door key does not work in the cargo key, wont even go in half way, is there a special key or is the key hole busted. maybe the previous owner broke the key off? what is the fix for this? And i'll try to the post about the latch. hopefully something i can do.

 

I am having the same problem with the cargo door on my 97 D1. Can't insert the key into the lock. Haven't found a fix for it yet but still trying.

 

I assume that you guys have tried lubing the key hole on the doors. And if your key still wont go into the cargo door then something is amiss with the key slot.

 

99LRDisc, Im not sure if your gate mechanism is similiar to 02 disco but I encountered same problem recently. I had to remove all panelling, speakers and plastic togain access to lock mech from inside. I removed cableleading from inside door handle from all the guides which hold it in place(mine has 1 on door frame & 1 on lock mech'). I then pulled cable cable sharply to disengage lock, which opened gate. Afterwards Iturned on child lock(2hrs trial/error)and I can now open doorfrom outside handle only.This works for me since I do not have3rd row.
