The case of the dying fuel pump(s). 3 now in 3 weeks.
Ok. I need to figure this out. Was on trail today and
had to be towed to main road for AAA. I have been
through 3 pumps. 2 Carter, and 1 Airtex. Pumps keep
dying sooner now. They just stop working. I put a new
one in and they work fine. Any idea what is going on
here? I was almost stuck 15 miles out in a national
forest today.
I have not yet changed whole assembly. Could this be
the issue? Please help Mike or anyone who has ideas!
Thanks guys!

Maybe you got a short in your wiring that is drawing too much current and burning them up or something else unusual placing a high demand on the pump. Are you running it real low on gas between fill-ups. Is there something in the tank that is blocking the pump input?
What about the internal filter bag / element?
I took the old pump off of my old assembly yesterday. It is sitting here on the desk looking lonely.... I am pretty sure it still works...... I put a new assembly in my 97 due to the cracked top.
