I'm with you merebel! We could sell out worn out cats and replace the entire exhaust system, and use aftermarket cats that lessen the chance of them being stolen!

Seriously though, I feel badly for anyone who has to deal with this situation, D2 or otherwise.

That's legitimately what I do. Sell the cats and that affords you headers if you want em and whatever you want behind that.

Even don domestic vehicles, the prices aren't as high, but the converters on my Silverado (~$150/ea) are about half funding my new exhaust system. Full stainless including stainless long tubes and new cheapie universal converters.

Knew I should've cut the cat they didnt get off myself.
Well, They saved me the trouble. 2nd cat stolen/gone now.

Ill update eventually with my super hi air flow electrified razor wire wasp nest steel plate belly pan design.
That or my catless exhaust setup.

Getting 33s to stuff in the wheelwell on bags seems hard lol

Four people at my work have also had the cats cut off various vehicles this week.

Good times

Some of the V8 owners here in England are removing the V8 badge off of their Discos and putting a Td5 diesel badge to thwart the cat thieves. Lol

Holy crap that's ruthless and ballsy. Also impressive to remember they only got the one and they needed to go back. Terrible.

So why isn't law enforcement going after the metals recyclers?

You just answered your own question. "Law Enforcement". Unless there is strict legislation in place for them to enforce...they can't just roll up to a recyclers and start arresting people. Even if we all know the deal.

The red tape here as per usual protects the corporation and not the private citizens. Law makers higher up need to get thier **** together but that's doubtful since the materials they are yeilding are in such crazy high demand.

Most of this is happening in areas where law enforcement is being defunded. What is left of law enforcement is busy collecting overtime for obvious reasons.
