Default Catalytic converter touching the driveshaft?

Hello, I own a 2000 Land Rover Discovery Series 2. The right hand catalytic converter and driveshaft seem to be in contact and rubbing with each other. I have tried replacing the engine mounts and they are still in contact with each other. Any suggestions on what may be causing the problem?

How do your transmission mounts look? Has your exhaust taken any kind of impact?

Might check to see if the front axle is centered and not dog tracking to the right. That cat should sit very close to the frame when normal. My guess is the exhaust got knocked to the left further back pulling it that way. That would be the cheapest culprit.

Driveshaft looks the correct distance away from the transmission, as far as I can tell from this one photo, so yeah, most likely your exhaust got hit somehow and moved. Does it sound like you have an exhaust leak?

I replaced my muffler with a Magnaflow a few months back, but other than that the exhaust has been fine (no leaks or rattles). what might have caused it to shift to the left and how can I repair that?

Are you confident it was installed correctly? Like... maybe it was installed this close to the driveshaft.

The mounts were welded together but everything bolted on nice and easy, so I would assume it was installed properly.

@pbreche2000 I would disagree the exhaust is either bent from road damage or installed incorrectly. Either way you are doing damage to the cat, drive shaft and possibly the drive train.

You just need to get it fixed, then everything else checked. Driveshaft balance should be checked too

Agreed, this should be taken care of quickly so I will try readjusting the exhaust and tweaking the fitment to improve positioning. Thank you all for the help
