Default CB and Antenna Help Needed

Hi LRF,

Looking for your guidance on 3 things.

a) If I were to add a CB radio to my Disco 2003, what would you recommed. Preferrend $100 or less.

b) If I were to add a Firestik antenna, what would you recommed to buy. I plan to install it in the back of the vehicle at the spare tire mount. Im looking for your list of items i need to purchase and any notes you would like to add.

c) I am looking for recommedations from LRF of a person in my area that can help with the install.

Thanks

a) Depends, what kind of distance are you trying to get? Just trail rides, or what?

b) firestik is a brand, do you mean what length? Yes, definitely the spare mount, but make sure it comes up higher than the vehicle.

c) can't help, but there are ton of land rover guys in cali!

Don't put a CB in there.
Get a Ham Radio license and put in a 2 meter and or UHF radio.
A lot more useful.

I Just picked up a UNIDEN XL520 & Firestik 2' "Groundless" antenna on Amazon for less than $`100.00. Been thinking about putting my antenna on the rear roof rack, but worried about hitting everything in sight. My LR is 7'8", so that would make everything in the 10' range a target for the antenna.

Usefull until everyone you want to speak to doesn't have one installed in their truck. Which is 90 something percent of the off road and "overland" community, and general public.

I have a UHF bridge to bridge, which is really useful if you need to contact your local fisherman...
