Default CD changer making a clicking noise

Tonight when I turned the engine off I heard a clicking sound coming from the CD changer. It clicks about 2x per second. I never use the player so there aren't any discs loaded. It is dark outside and didn't have my flashlight but I was able to remove to disc cartridge, yet the clicking is still there. Short of pulling the cable off the player, does anyone have any idea of how to stop this clicking? How is it able to do anything with everything off? Thanx.

The CD changer always has power running to it. So it is always on. That is how you can unload/load it with the trk off.
Is your player under the pass seat?
You should beable to unplug it. Put the cartridge back in and then pull the power from the back of the unit. If you cant do it I am sure that the guys at Best Buy would do it for you for a "tip".

It sounds like it is trying to change the disk. But since you dont use it, the changer probally keeps running through all 6 over and over. When I change the disk it makes a clicking sounds however many times it needs to until it gets to the disk I just inserted. For example if I was listening to disk 2 and put a new disk in slot 5, it would click 3 times and when I turned the truck on it would be ready to play disk five. My guess is there is something triggering it to think it need to change the disk, do you thing you might have hit a button by any chance? If not then it could be something electrical. Other than unpluging it, there isnt much more i can tell you. The connection for the changer is under the seat I think you can get to it by going through the back.

Hope that helps!

The Alpine is under the passenger seat and I just unplugged it today. With the disc loader out I could press hard and hold the green button and it would stop clicking. I may wind up pulling it out and using the space for some sort of storage.

Yeah, it sounds like an electrical giltch. You might as well take it out if you never plan on using it.
