CDL and 3 Amigos
I have had the fortune of not having to deal with the 3 Amigos issue since I owned the car. I installed a 2004 transfer case and CDL into my 2003 Disco recently.
I was reading some posts such as this one which mentioned "the 3 amigos will come on if, with the CDL engaged you shut off the engine and then restart":
Is this an inherent anomaly of the ABS system on the Disco? Just curious as to the reason for this happening.

CDL ASSEMBLY:
I bought an entire 2004 CDL transfer case for $400. Dismantled the CDL assembly and installed on the existing 2003 transfer case. This is mitigate the need to remove the original 2003 transfer case (very heavy). A buddy bought the remaining 2004 transfer case for $250 from me. Therefore, I was only out $150.
CDL LINKAGE:
I bought a used 2004 one for $400. It works very well once assembled. I could have bought a new assembly for the same price from a guy in Poland, but only found out about it later (CDL Land Rover Discovery 2 D2 Central Difflock Diff Lock Shifter | eBay)
CDL STICKER:
You get can it from BP Utah. There is a Disco 2 version for $12 (LandRover Discovery Genuine OEM Factory Transfer Case CDL Decal). Or a Disco 1 version for $7 (Land Range Rover Classic Discovery Defender OEM Transfer Case Gear Decal)
CDL DETECTION SWITCH/HARNESS:
You can get harness and switch respectively from Atlantic British for $54 (Differential Lock Switch Harness (Genuine Part # YMQ105170) - Land Rover switches/control unit/actuators from Atlantic British) and $20 (Differential Lock Switch On Transfer Case (PRC2911 Same Fit As Part # PRC2911-LUCAS) - Land Rover switches/control unit/actuators from Atlantic British)
Here are some useful sources for the removal of the center console and CDL installation. I referred to different sections of information from these sources for my own project.
2003CDLInstall - LAND ROVER CLUB V.I.
I estimate it would take 1/2 to a full day depending on your ability and number of hands involved. The CDL option is priceless for offorading. I took it out for the first time last weekend to the Tillamook State Park on Oregon (wet, muddy and rocky in some sections). My Disco is the red one you see in the pics. The CDL was very useful and I would not have been able to make it out of some muddy/rocky sections without CDL:
