I have a 2000 Disco II and the CDL fittings are all contained to lock the CDL. In addition, I ordered a 2004 CDL Shift Linkage and plan to install it soon.

I am, however, missing the bracket that fastens to the shift stud that sticks out of the top of the Center Differential.

It is part number 42 in this screen shot taken from the RAVE Manual.

Anyone have any idea where I can get one, before I attempt to make one? The Stealership will only sell the complete assembly, for several hundred dollars...

 

I just finished doing this same project and had the same trouble and found a really simple fix that saved me a lot of time.

Take your old Hi/Lo and you will find there is an arm held on by a nut and that the shift cable is attached to and its this arm that you need. The arm has a square hole so you will have to file round ends into 2 sides to make it work with the CDL spigot (#35). On the the CDL spigot (#35) the flat sides are almost a perfect fit but may need and tiny filing. I then bent mine to resemble the factory one, drilled the hole larger put it together and it works great.

Don't know from whom you're buying the linkage but mine came with the lever (bracket, #42). Mine came from a salvage '04 and I carefully instructed the seller to include that part.

 

Linkage was bought from a salvage yard. This particular bracket was not included when the linkage assembly arrived.

If anyone has one of these handy, a real photo with some dimensions would be awesome.

I have access to a full machine shop to reproduce the part, I just don't have the dimensions and I'm not sure how critical the length of the bracket is to the smooth functioning of the shift mechanism.

Would prefer to avoid trial and error if possible...

 

I ended up ordering one from Ashcroft. If I remember, I'll take pictures and measurements when it arrives and post it to this thread in case anyone else needs to make one in the future and runs across this thread.

As I age, it is questionable whether or not I will remember to do this when it arrives, so no promises...

 

Anyone know off hand what size nut and thread pitch part number 41 is in the attached graphic?

I'm about to install the CDL linkage and am hoping to have the appropriate sized nut on hand prior to starting the job.

Finished the CDL Shifter install today. I ended up using riv-nuts to reassemble the shifter pan back into the transmission tunnel in case I ever need to take it apart again. Used button-head allen screws to fasten the pan to the tunnel.

Ready for some snow to try out the new Dif Lock!
