Default CDL light

So I finally replaced my cdl shifter and linkage, checked to make sure it's engaged and what a difference!!! Now I'm hoping for a blizzard every week!! The only problem is that the light on the dash for the transfer case doesn't come on. It was obvious from the old shifter that this hasn't been used in a long time... if at all. So my question is: will the light eventually start working with repeated use? or is there a switch that is gummed up and needs to be replaced?

when my light wasn't turning on, my CDL wasn't working

I took the disco out, and got all 4 wheels spinning pretty good. it then lit up and engaged.

if you are sure yours is engaged... make sure that your linkage bar isn't bent

then maybe try turning the nut on top of the transfer case a little further with a wrench, to see if it turns on then

It's definitely engaged. I replaced the linkage too.... didn't want to chance it. Maybe I'll try turning the nut on the transfer case like you said. But not now, it's -5 out there!!!

I never did check the bulb because I don't think it's been used so I doubt if it would be out. Now that I think about it... is the light supposed to come on like all the others do when you first turn the key on? If it should then I guess it's burned out.

My CDL light doesn't turn on with the engine. There is a switch connected to the t-case. Mine was unhooked (by the dealer) because the PO said the light came on randomly (never engaged it though since there was no linkage). I plugged it in and had the CDL light after moving forward about 10 feet.
