Default CDL locked, with this light... Safe to remove front shaft and drive?

Learned something new today...always a good thing.
So, went under the truck with a 10mm open end wrench to give it the ole college try... felt around, placed the wrench (was surprised how easily it turned the 45 or so degrees) and bammmmo... I started to truck, no light on the dash until you engage the gears with the shifter FYI, but the light did show up. SEE PIC.
I am pleased to know how to use the CDL, which I never thought of using. (This discovery has no idea how to rock climb or wade through a creek...I have been over protective)
With this light on, I can now remove the front drive shaft to be rebuilt and still drive the truck? No issues with driving around Denver area until it get fixed?
Just so I understand correctly; Hypothetically, If I could see the underside while driving with the shaft off, are the flanges going to the front diff and transfer case still going to be spinning like crazy?
Cheers and thanks in advance,
Brett

No hard excellerations and a roto-flex that is in good shape and you will be fine.
Make sure you do not buy parts from China and replace the center-ball.

I have seen a post with a pix somewhere, with a hole drilled in the console, and a 10mm socket and small knurled extension poke thru the hole. A flick of the wrist and you are locked. Here's the link Greg Davis CDL Linkage - Erik Burrows.com

This is very clever indeed... and I like that you could insulate that really well so you won't even hear a difference (or feel a difference when it's cold outside!)
