Is CDL possible on an '02 Disco?
I'm having the three amigos pop up more often these days and I'm wondering, short of the listed fix for the amigos, is there a way to engage CDL on an '02 Disco? I understand that the linkage was not fitted on the 99-03 models, but was on the '04. Though it was possible to add a CDL kit on 99-01 models.
That chronology may be a bit wonky, but the question remains, can I fit CDL on my '02?
thanks for the responses

What's the build date on your '02? Check for the date inside the driver door. If it is early May 2001 or earlier.. there's a good chance you already have the CDL nipple. If you have the CDL nipple, then you can purchase a CDL linkage kit from Lucky8 and install it (medium difficulty, ~$500). If you don't have the nipple, then you either need to rebuilt or replace the transfer case that has it + add the linkage (lots of labor, $$$). My '02 doesn't have it and the build date is 5/11/01.

Ah yes , I was hoping to bypass the shortcomings of no TC (per the three amigos) with CDL instead. I will check my Disco come tomorrow, but I have to say, reaching under there the other week while swapping my front driveshaft, I didn't feel any bearing/linkage/surface texture that would suggest any CDL in the spot on the Transfer Case where Rave says it should be. I'll be sure to check the date, thanks for the reply.

Lockers will do you zero good without a locking center diff. Without CDL the factory traction control stops applying power to one of the two axles at usually a most needed time 4x4ing (crawling up a loose/slippery hill, rocky terrain, off camber etc). Adding CDL itself is huge if you go off road much, you at least become a true 2x4! Then add a locker, now your a 3x4.

I guess I could go on Row 52 and find a yard with a few Disco's and poach from those? I just really want CDL. Would also love to fix my amigos.

Disco transfer cases are all over Ebay for cheap. Just buy a complete unit. Make sure they show a pic of the CDL nipple on the unit like this one.
