Default CEL flashing, rough running.

Hey guys, I need some help. I have an 03 discovery approx 115k miles. Today when I started the car, the CEL started flashing, running rough... I only let it run for a min or so, it first started when I tried to put it in gear. I cut it off, then a little later I tried to start it again, it kicks over and runs, but runs rough, I did not notice any knocking or pinging, but probably more of a miss. What might be going here, what should I do? Im nervous as hell about running it because I know the flashing CEL is bad news.

It is probably fine to drive, is it misfiring or just running rough? Was it really wet when you tried to start it? When was your last tuneup? If I were to guess I would say either you need a tuneup with new wires and plugs or maybe a bad O2 sensor.

It is flashing but will turn solid after flashing for a minute or so, that is how it works. You are probably OK to drive it and the misfires may go away after the engine warms up and evaporates the moisture out of the engine compartment. Again that is your call, you can also get a ride to autozone and rent a scanner (or go to harbor freight and buy one).

factory, But it had all services up to 100K I believe. I can remember if the previous owner had done the 120k early.

the factory wires are 7mm wires. i suggest you get some 8mm magnecores from Apex performance. and you could use some beefier plugs as well. i suggest the Bosch +4 platinums. you need to do the service yourself, don't take the word of the previous owner, and don't bring your truck to the stealership any more unless you want to throw away money. get the 4 digit codes and bring them back so we can help solve your problem.
