Centering ball - front drive shaft Disco II
Greetings,
I have found that I do not have geaseable u-joints in my front drive shaft and am in the process of getting all the parts fro the swap however, while I have the system apart I would like to change the centering ball also (I'm thinking that would be best - do it all at once) but, I can not find anywhere local or online that has this part. So, my question is does anybody know where I might find this part (centering ball) I can pick up the u-joints locally - NAPA (in stock).
Thanks for any assistance.

I got mine from Advance Auto parts. If you do a search on here you will find all the part #'s. I did mine last year and had to take it to a driveline shop to get the centerball out. They had to cut it out with a torch. I had a huge slide hammer and I broke the hammer and my workbench trying to get it off. It was the best $50 I ever spent. Good luck with yours!
The "center ball kit" part # is either
Neapco 7-0081NG
(at Advance Auto)
or
Precision 617
(at NAPA)
Either brand works. About $25.
EDIT: Started post before your post, sorry for the repeat. I think the "617 " is the correct number, however I used the Neapco, so I can't verify that.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA - YOU CHEATERS, those parts are no where near the Land Rover section for those suppliers (at least the 617 anyways). However, it shows there has been a great deal of research done to determine parts from (heaven forbid) other brand trucks [sm=icon_quiet.gif] will cross to LR's. It is experience like this that enables new (me) and future LR owners to continue to work on their machines.
Keep up the GOOD WORK!!!!
Thanks for the help

Got myprescision 617 from www.rockauto.com. they even sent me one all the way over here very quickly !!!!.Don't look for Land rover, just use their part search and search 617
and yes your shaft is the same as all the others
LOL,
Thanks Urban, it would have sucked to get that apart only to find its the wrong size. I did find the 617 on NAPA's web site so I'm in business.
Thanks for the help.
